Snake into Horse — Zodiac Crossing is a symbolic layered composition representing the transition from the Year of the Snake (2025) into the Year of the Horse (2026) in the Chinese Zodiac. Built from two archival photographs — Velvet Ambush and Wood Road  — the piece merges shadow work with forward motion, creating a visual metaphor for shedding, transformation, and emergence.
 
The snake forms the energetic ground, a subtle presence woven through the shadows and contours of the composition. It symbolizes introspection, renewal, hidden wisdom, and the profound shedding that defines Snake years. The horse rises from that field — illuminated, intuitive, and sovereign — embodying the momentum, vitality, independence, and expansion of the Horse year.
